Cornchild Productions is a Stockholm-based production company founded in 2009 by director and producer Irene Lopez. Together with producer and director Babak Parham, Cornchild develops bold, distinctive films for cinema and television, with a clear ambition to bring a new Nordic voice to an international audience.

Our fiction slate is driven by the extraordinary, the elevated and the unexpected. We are particularly drawn to genre — films that move beyond traditional realism through dark humour, heightened worlds, suspense, absurdity and strong cinematic ideas.

In documentary, we are equally committed to stories rooted in reality, especially films with political urgency, social engagement and a strong authorial voice. We are interested in documentaries that can be provocative, playful and formally inventive, often combining serious subject matter with humour, contradiction and absurdism.

Cornchild Productions works in close collaboration with Distorted Pictures, bringing together filmmakers with a shared interest in ambitious, original and internationally minded cinema.

We make films that are unmistakably Nordic — but never confined by Nordic realism.
